Beijing has done a great work in Olympics
One World One Dream
It is quite impressive and Beijing stood up for every criticism came on her side and showed the world her passion
Following shows how she got a new look without doing a much damage to the environment and what world is saying about that
As part of a last-minute beautification program, the city of Beijing has built walls to surround areas that are considered eyesores. Hou Jiafeng sells drinks near a new wall that blocks the view of her store.
On July 17, a sign appeared beside shops near Beijing's central axis which read, "In keeping with the government's request to rectify the Olympic environment, a wall will need to be built around No. 93 South Tianqiao Road." The next morning, several bricklayers showed up with a police escort and built a wall in three hours.
A veil of green plastic netting now covers the area around a half-demolished restaurant that is along the Olympic marathon route.
A cycling event is expected to pass through this neighborhood, where a Beijing 2008 sign blocks the view of dilapidated buildings.
Sun Ruonan, whose ancestors opened a bakery on the axis south of Tiananmen Square in the 1840s, sat in the dining room of her restaurant, which has been surrounded by green netting. She is worried that the government will tear her building down. "I don't really want to oppose the government," she said. "For those of us who have lived through the Cultural Revolution, this life is like heaven."
