BEIRUT, Lebanon – A Lebanese government official says his country is trying to determine who launched rockets from southern Lebanon into Israel.
The official also says Lebanon is committed to a U.N.-brokered truce that ended the brutal 2006 war between the militant group Hezbollah and Israel.
The official spoke on condition of anonymity in line with government regulations.
As many as three rockets were fired from southern Lebanon into Israel on Thursday. Israel responded by firing mortars across the border.
There were no serious injuries in either attack.
The cross-border exchange was the first since Israel launched an offensive against the militant group Hamas in the Gaza Strip on Dec. 27.
